A far-flung theory that Meghan Markle was wearing a “recording device” underneath her dress while greeting mourners of the Queen at Windsor Castle on Saturday has been shut down.
The speculation came after Twitter users spotted a square-shaped crease in the former actress’s dress as she walked next to Prince Harry, Prince William, and Duchess Kate.
Some believed Meghan Markle, 41, might have been wearing a microphone pack to gather material for her upcoming Netflix docuseries.
“I can’t believe she is recording this. She is just a vile and toxic woman. I hope King Charles has told Harry she is not to come to the funeral,” one person commented on the photo.
Another said: “Is Meghan Markle wearing a mic to use the Queen’s death for her Netflix reality show?”
But others pointed out the theory was inappropriate and likely untrue.
“Just creases in the dress, nothing else,” one person wrote.
“Maybe she wears her belt on the inside and that’s the buckle. I often wear my belt on the inside with the buckle off-centre. I’m sure many people do,” another added.
And on Tuesday, a source close to the Duchess shut down the “insane” speculation.
“This is insane and actually damaging to her. Of course, she was not wearing a mic,” a source close to Megan told Page Six on Tuesday.
The estranged foursome’s outing marked the first time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Prince and Princess of Wales were seen in public together since Commonwealth Day in March 2020.
The Queen died on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96.
